MSC APICTA 2008, the 9th Asia Pacific ICT Awards, has two additional categories and new partnerships, announced Multimedia Development Corporation chief executive officer,  Dato’ Badlisham Ghazali last month.

New is The Best of e-Inclusion & e-Community category aimed at encouraging development of ICT solutions to help the disadvantaged, the marginalized, to bridge the digital divide and to contribute to improve the quality of life and living standard of the community.

Re-introduced is The Best of e-Healthcare category in recognition of the importance of ICT solutions in healthcare and to encourage development of solutions which promote, maintain, monitor or restore health.

The addition of the two bring the total number of APICTA award categories to 19.

The Asia Pacific University College of Technology and Innovation (UCTI), formerly APIIT, will award two scholarships worth RM60,000 in tuition fees only to winners in the The Best of Secondary School Project category, for the winners to study at UCTI for an external Bachelors Degree in an ICT issued by Staffordshire  University,UK.

MSC Malaysia APICTA also partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, whereby the winner of the Prime Minister’s Best of the Best Award will attend a week-long MIT Entrepreneur Development Program worth US$9,000 with return economy airfare.

MSC Malaysia APICTA also partnered with the World Summit Awards (WSA) where participants from 168 countries will compete in eight categories.
