There have been a total of 74 winners, since the IPCC began in 2006.
“Creating traditional content for radio and TV was very much a closed industry and MDeC realised that much local content had yet to be tapped,” said Kamil. “However, the information and communications technology (ICT) revolution has made it possible for people almost anywhere to create content.”
Kamil added that the beauty of digital content is that it can be easily converted and adapted to play on for multiple types of platforms and that content creators, according to studies, can earn up to 70% of their total royalties from derivatives of their content, such as merchandise, while their initial content earns them about 30%.
Meanwhile, Sejaya Productions which won in the Animation category in 2007 for Lord of Dragon has won six orders for its winning animation.
“We were part of an MSC Malaysia delegation to sell products worldwide and received the six orders totaling US$300,000, which we will receive when we deliver the 26 episodes to our customers next year,” said Seyaja managing director, Ronnie Chan on the sidelines of the announcement.
